  • See how the FIFA World Cup venues look today

Every month FIFA.com provides readers with a breakdown of how progress is going on the construction and renovation of the stadiums at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. Here is October’s update on the tournament’s future venues.

The four stadiums that hosted the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 during the summer (Spartak Stadium, Kazan Arena, Saint Petersburg Stadium and Fisht Stadium) are ready to welcome fans at Russia 2018. Three of them are already hosting the home games of prominent Russian Premier League clubs in Moscow, Kazan and Saint Petersburg.

The World Cup’s showpiece arena is on the verge of its grand re-opening since reconstruction began – Russia will face Argentina at the Luzhniki Stadium on 11 November. It will be one of the last opportunities for both national teams to get a run-out before the Final Draw of the World Cup on 1 December.

In October, the grass at the Mordovia Arena finally began to sprout. Also in Saransk, work has begun on the roof’s membrane covering, the venue’s facilities are being furnished, the territory around the stadium is being redeveloped and lifts are being installed.

The internal facilities of the Kaliningrad Stadium are steadily being fitted out as well. Progress is well under way putting the seats in, temporary structures are being built and pitch specialists continue to carefully maintain the playing surface.

Elsewhere, the playing surface at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium is now complete, after almost 48,000 kilometres of artificial blades of grass were sewn into the pitch. This is almost 8,000 kilometres longer than the Earth’s equator. The stadium’s roof is being finished off and the facilities furnished.

Work continues on the foundations of the football pitch at the Samara Arena: the layer of sand and gravel has been laid and the drainage system is already half-installed. The venue’s temporary fencing has been replaced by permanent structures. Around the stadium, asphalt is being poured on the roads, pedestrian walkways are being erected and greenery planted as part of redevelopment efforts.

The redevelopment of the territory surrounding the Ekaterinburg Arena has also been finished, reports the contractor in charge of the venue’s reconstruction. More than 150 trees and nearly 2,000 shrubs have been planted, while 180 m2 of rockworks and 340 m2 of long-lasting flower beds have been laid. The temporary and permanent entrances to the stadium have been constructed. Still ongoing in Ekaterinburg is the installation of the lighting system, which should be ready in November.

Around 30 per cent of the seating at the Rostov Arena is already in place, as work continues on the multi-media façade, suspended ceilings, ceramic tiling, lifts and escalators, roads, pedestrian walkways, paths and open spaces. The deputy governor of the Rostov Region, Sergei Sidash, confirmed that construction on the stadium is 90 per cent complete.

At the Volgograd Arena, they are preparing to insert artificial fibres into the football pitch along with frequent cutting, watering and fertilising of the existing turf. Progress is being made on numerous other fronts at the stadium’s construction site, such as decorating the facilities, lifting the roof into place, redeveloping the surrounding areas, putting in toilets and other sanitary equipment, installing sewage and plumbing fixtures and finally, building communications, heating and ventilation systems.

The formation has been chosen so that all the players fit into all available positions on the pitch and can fit any formation. collectionfifatips | FIFA 18 How To Grow Young Players Potential Glitch

So if you’ve been wanting to learn how to grow your young players potential on FIFA 18 Career Mode then we have the tutorial that covers it. Watch the full HD video guide below to find out how to do it and get all your wonderkids to a 90+ potential.

It is the same as years gone by regarding the loan glitch but there are a few small tweaks and changes along the way too. There are the four different potential statuses that you need to know and they are the following.

  • At The Club Since
  • Showing Great Potential
  • An Exciting Prospect
  • Has Potential To Be Special

The first one is at the club since and that is the worst it means the young players growth will be completely and utterly random and out of your hands. Showing great potential means they’ll get to at least and 80 rating. An exciting prospect will ensure your player gets an 86 overall rating and has potential to be special ensures a 90+ rating and is were you want to get your player at.

Has that something special means the player has the flair trait and nothing else! One of the worlds best means that the player is 90 rated plus. Now that we’ve discussed the status of the players it’s time to get to how to glitch them.

You want to send them out on loan and recall them instantly but only players who’ve got showing great potential and not at the club since like in previous installments you could glitch any player but it has changed in FIFA 2018.

You can also look out for the financial side of things as well with the players market value increasing when you recall them from loan spells as well. You might get a lot of loan offers rejected and fall through as talks break down with the player and clubs. Just keep saving your progress and reloading your saved data back up again and keep loaning them out.

This glitch can also be done with the youth academy in career mode too not just real life players. make sure to subscribe to our official YouTube channel to get the very latest updates on all our videos and check back here for more career mode tips.

collectionfifatips – Juventus keeper Wojciech Szczesny: I never improved while at Arsenal

After Troy Deeney’s comments about Arsenal, Craig Burley says clubs know they can easily push the Gunners around.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny believes he failed to develop at the Emirates because of less sophisticated coaching in the Premier League.

Szczesny, who joined defending Serie A champs Juventus from Roma in the summer, spent the majority of his career at Arsenal before being loaned to the Giallorossi in 2015.

At Roma, he became the club’s No. 1 keeper under manager Luciano Spalletti. And the 27-year-old Poland international told The Independent there is a stark difference between the level of coaching in the Prem and Serie A.

“I think in general, the coaches in Italy are much more tactical, that’s just how the league works,” Szczesny said. “Whether it was [Luciano] Spalletti at Roma or Max Allegri here, the preparation for the game is different to what I was used to in England.

Wojciech Szczesny was loaned out by Arsenal in the summer of 2015.

“You work on the shape of the team for a particular match all week. At Arsenal you’d just prepare physically for it but here you watch film analysing a specific opponent before the game and afterwards we’ll watch again to see what worked and what didn’t.

“I enjoyed working with some great coaches at Arsenal, Roma and here, but the goalkeeping school in Italy is very different, it’s very technical and pays more attention to the details.

“It’s really made a difference for me because I started playing at a very young age with Arsenal and as you play you gain experience and that’s how you grow.

“But, honestly, I couldn’t say from a technical standpoint that I improved in any way from when I became first-choice at Arsenal until the day I left for Roma.

“However, in the two-and-a-half years since I came to Italy, I’ve improved massively which is thanks to the coaches and the way they work. It’s not about improving when you play, it’s every day in training you have to work on every aspect of your game and that’s something I’ve really enjoyed.”

Jose Mourinho: I may tell truth about 2008 Barcelona link one day on collectionfifatips

Get caught up on the weekend that was in the Premier League with the fastest 90 seconds (plus stoppages) in football!
Julien Laurens explains why Jose Mourinho might not be a good fit at PSG, despite reported mutual interest.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said he will “one day tell the truth” about his potential move to Barcelona that fell through in 2008.

In 2013, former Barcelona president Joan Laporta revealed that Mourinho had wanted to coach the club after leaving Chelsea.

He emerged as a possible replacement for Frank Rijkaard but instead joined Inter Milan after Barca decided Pep Guardiola was better suited to the job.

And speaking to Telefoot, he said: “Maybe one day I’ll be able to reveal the truth. No, no [not today].

“These are things in my career which I prefer to keep to myself. Maybe I will reveal them one day, when I will be old, old, old. Maybe.”

In 2013, Laporta said Mourinho “wanted to come to Barcelona, but it wasn’t possible because we had decided to sign Guardiola as coach.”

Mourinho had worked at the Camp Nou from 1996 to 2000 as part of the staff under Bobby Robson and then Louis van Gaal.

While Mourinho remained coy about Barcelona, he opened up about his departure from Real Madrid in 2013 after three years at the club.

Jose Mourinho is currently working as Manchester United manager.

“It was my decision. My decision,” he said. “My daughter was going to study in London and at that moment, we thought it was very important to have the family united.

“For me it’s very important to be happy. My best results in football came when I was happy. At that moment — in my third year at Madrid — I wasn’t happy.

“If you win, you are a great coach. He [Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane] has won and he will continue to win. I think that he will win the title as the best coach in the world because he deserves it.”

The Portuguese spoke further about his career, expressing his pride at winning the Champions League with Porto and Inter in 2004 and 2010 respectively.

“There are some magnificent things, but also some controversies. That is part of a career,” he said. “Winning in Europe with a club from your country [with Porto] — I think it’s special because you go into the history of the club, but also of the country.

“Inter became something very special because it was a relation of love. The group were an old group and it was maybe the final opportunity for this generation. We won for the Moratti family and all the Interisti, giving them an incredible joy.

“I know that when I went to Madrid, it was not the right time to go there, but it was the moment I wanted to go, when Barcelona were at their strongest. I knew it was a difficult time to come to Manchester United too, but this is me.”

ESPN FC’s Italy correspondent Ben Gladwell contributed to this report.

collectionfifatips | Columbus Crew SC exploring relocation to Austin, TX – sources

ESPN FC’s Alejandro Moreno and Alexis Nunes break down the best in MLS with his weekly awards.

The investor/operator of the Columbus Crew SC is considering relocating the team to Austin, Texas unless the city of Columbus can come up with a plan for a new downtown stadium, sources confirmed to ESPN FC.

SI.com was the first to tweet the news, while the Columbus Dispatch was first to publish the details.

Anthony Precourt, the CEO of Precourt Sports Ventures, and the chairman of Crew SC has scheduled a news conference for Tuesday, at which he plans to discuss his plans.

ESPNFC.com has learned that Precourt intends to explore concurrent paths towards a stadium in each market. Precourt has been frustrated at the team’s inability to increase revenue streams in terms of overall attendance, sponsorship, and season tickets. With one week to go in the regular season, the Crew’s attendance ranks 20th out of 22 teams.

Precourt has also grown weary of playing games at aging MAPFRE Stadium, a no-frills venue which opened in 1999 as the first-in-the-league soccer specific stadium. Precourt purchased the team from previous owners Hunt Sports Group in 2013. But according to the Dispatch, the purchase agreement contained a promise to keep the team in Columbus for at least 10 years. Critically, it included an out clause in case Precourt wanted to move the team to Austin.

Columbus Crew SC is considering relocating the team to Austin, Texas.

One source told the Dispatch that a deal to host home games at the University of Texas is “all but done” for 2019. The Dispatch also reported that Precourt paid a premium price of $68 million for the team in 2013 because he intended to move it.

Both the Dispatch and SI.com reported that a consortium of local businessmen have been trying to aid the Crew in its search for a stadium site, as well as buy the team. Alex Fischer, the president and CEO of the Columbus Partnership, a group of 60 Columbus business leaders and CEOs, told SI.com that Precourt had rejected all offers to sell even a partial stake to local investors.

“We met with ownership a month ago to discuss their stadium study and plans and ideas for a new stadium in Columbus,” Fischer told SI.com. “Those conversations turned up the fact that ownership had been in extensive conversations over the last number of months with leaders in Austin about a possible new stadium and moving the team there.”

The possible move to Austin would involve playing in a temporary stadium for two seasons until a stadium is completed in around 2021.

“It’s a real disappointment for our players and our fans to have this news coming out on the eve of the playoffs,” said Fischer. “But I guess owners have to make the decisions they have to make.”
